Shillong, Oct 29: The Shillong Cherry Blossom Festival will return on November 20-21 with a spectacular international lineup and a celebration of music across generations.
Announcing the dates, festival producer Rockski EMG said the festival’s growth into what organisers describe as India’s number one music festival has been made possible by the government of Meghalaya’s vision and sustained support.
“By recognising the potential of music and culture to drive tourism, the government has helped create a platform that brings global artists to Shillong, attracts visitors from across India and beyond, and places Meghalaya firmly in the international festival conversation,” the organisers said.
The festival’s recognition as Music Festival of the Year at EEMAX Global in 2025 marks an important milestone in that journey. Beyond an annual event, it has become a lasting tourism asset creating opportunities for local artists, hospitality businesses, entrepreneurs and young people, they added.
Ahead of the main festival, an International Music Summit will be held on November 19 in collaboration with India International Music Week. The summit will focus on industry connections and opportunities for local talent.
Festival promoters, record labels, booking agents and professionals from around the world will be invited to experience Meghalaya. Panel discussions, workshops and interactions with Meghalaya Grassroots Music Project (MGMP) artists will form part of the programme. The summit will be open to all artists and musicians from Meghalaya.
The 2026 edition will also introduce Cherry Blossom Fit Check, a fashion and self-expression competition with a total cash prize pool of Rs 20 lakh. The competition will have online and on-ground participation.
A Fan Zone, MMA, armwrestling, cosplay and lifestyle experiences will further expand the festival experience.
“As Cherry Blossom enters its next chapter, it builds on that achievement—strengthening Meghalaya’s tourism identity, creating opportunities for its people, and welcoming the world to Shillong,” Rockski EMG said.
