Shillong, Oct 26: The final electoral rolls after Special Intensive Revision (SIR) 2026 were published in Meghalaya on Monday, fixing the state’s electorate at 21,83,963 — a net addition of 14,720 (0.68%) over the draft roll.
The final roll comprises 10,59,743 males, 11,24,216 females and 4 third-gender voters, with gender ratio at 1061 and EP ratio at 606.
The revision began with 23,49,645 electors before SIR. During house-to-house enumeration from June 30 to July 29, Booth Level Officers distributed an equal number of forms and got back 21,69,243. The remaining 1,80,402 non-returned cases were excluded from the draft roll of August 5 as Absent, Shifted, Deceased and Duplicate (ASDD).
Break up of ASDD: Deceased 81,490, Absent 45,011, Shifted 42,532, Duplicate 6,701, Others 4,668. The draft roll had 21,69,243 voters. The Election Department then issued 6,51,735 notices — 2,22,786 unmapped electors and 4,28,949 with logical discrepancies — and completed 100 per cent hearings.
Altogether 6,724 electors were deleted.
Claims and objections filed from August 5 to September 18 were 21,694 inclusion applications (Form 6/6A) accepted, 12,860 corrections, 2,526 deletions and 2,276 shifting of residence.
Chief Electoral Officer BDR Tiwari said electors should verify their names on voters.eci.gov.in, ceomeghalaya.nic.in or ECINET app, through BLOs or ERO offices.
Any person aggrieved by ERO order can appeal before District Magistrate within 15 days under Section 24(a), and a second appeal before CEO within 30 days.
Tiwari said enrolment is continuous through Form 6. A special drive will be held across districts for left-out voters, first-time electors, senior citizens and PwDs as per ECI direction dated Oct 1.
“No eligible elector should be left behind,” CEO said, thanking electors, political parties, BLAs, dorbar shnongs, nokmas and election machinery.
