Shillong, Oct 6: Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Tuesday reacted to KSU’s allegation that police personnel were collecting money from trucks along Shillong By-Pass at Mawkhanu and Thangsalai, saying the government will not allow illegal activities but action needs proof.
“Authorities need to work on specific proofs, the government cannot act on allegations alone,” Sangma said.
He assured that whenever the government gets information of such illegalities, action has been taken in the past and will be taken in future.
On demand to book the police personnel under extortion charges, the CM said all facts and evidence will have to be looked into.
“One just cannot jump to conclusions. We have to work on evidence,” he said, adding that the government’s stand is clear that such illegal activities will not be allowed and appropriate action will be taken if found true.
