Shillong, Oct 6: The University of Science and Technology Meghalaya (USTM) has scored big on the global research map.
Three of its scientists have featured in the Top 1000 Scholars in the Scholarly Index Ranking 2026.
Leading the pack is Dr Mohit L Deb, Assistant Professor, Department of Chemistry, who secured World Rank 129 and India Rank 15 for his work on synthesis of indole derivatives — one of the highest Indian ranks in the list.
He is followed by Dr Yugal Kishore Mohanta, Assistant Professor, Applied Biology, ranked 398 globally and 45 in India for his research on nanoparticles: synthesis and applications, a key area in nanobiotechnology.
The third entry is Dr Golam Mohiuddin, Assistant Professor, Chemistry, ranked 844 globally and 89 in India for contributions to liquid crystal research advancements.
The university in a statement said the recognition of its three faculty members in a single year underscores USTM’s push for research and innovation, putting the university among institutions with international scholarly visibility.
