Shillong, Oct 5: The Catholic Association of Shillong yesterday handed over a draft for Rs 5 lakh to Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma as donation towards the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund for flood-affected people in Assam.
The donation was handed over by Vice President Barnabas Nongbah, accompanied by General Secretary H. Kharlyngdoh, Past President of Synjuk ki Seng Rangbah, Shillong Archdiocese Carlus Kharkongor and President of Synjuk ki Rangbah, Jowai Diocese Henry Mannar.
According to Kharlyngdoh, the amount was contributed by the faithful of the Shillong Archdiocese in response to the call given by the Local Ordinary in aid of those affected by the recent devastating floods in Assam.
