Jowai, Oct 2: The Jowai Municipal Board (JMB) conducted a cleanliness drive across key markets, including Tympang Iawmusiang, CNI and Seinraij, as part of the Swacchata Hi Seva campaign.
Addressing the gathering during a brief programme DV Lyngdoh, Additional Deputy Commissioner and CEO of the JMB, highlighted the key pillars of the Swachhata Hi Seva and the importance of collective participation in maintaining clean public spaces.
She further spoke about Solid Waste Management 2026, stressing the need for proper segregation of waste at the source and disposal of different categories of waste in designated bins. She added the JMB has identified various locations for cleaning as part of the campaign and is also undertaking activities to promote responsible waste management.
Various activities have been organised and will continue to be organised under the campaign to create awareness on proper waste segregation, responsible waste management and maintaining cleanliness.
P Lyngdoh, Chairman of the JMB, highlighted the importance of proper waste management and collective efforts to keep the markets and surrounding areas of Jowai Town clean.
Daloi of Elaka Jowai Puramon Kynjing, who was also present, stressed the importance of sustaining cleanliness through continued community participation and responsible practices.
The Waheh Shnongs, including Tympang Iawmusiang and other localities of Jowai Town, along with prominent figures, Scouts and Guides, members of the public, and vendors and shopkeepers of Tympang Iawmusiang, CNI and Iaw Sein raij took part in the cleaning drive.
Swachh Bharat Diwas 2026 observed by NEEPCO
North Eastern Electric Power Corporation Limited (NEEPCO) observed Swachh Bharat Diwas 2026 at its corporate office here today.
The programme witnessed the participation of Padma Shri awardee Silbi Passah and retired international footballer Eugeneson Lyngdoh.
In his address, K Shanmugha Sundaram, Managing Director of NEEPCO, emphasised the importance of recognising the contribution of those who work every day to maintain clean and healthy surroundings.
A special felicitation ceremony was organised to honour Safai Karmacharis and volunteers for their contribution.
