Shillong, Sep 18: IIM Shillong hosted Starbucks India on campus, launching its new Industry Dialogue Series aimed at strengthening industry-academia collaboration.
The session, held on Friday, opened with an interactive coffee-tasting where the Starbucks team personally served brews to students and walked them through the brand’s journey, its scale in India and the craft behind high-quality arabica coffee – fragrance, aroma, acidity, sweetness, mouthfeel and flavour.
The engagement was welcomed by Hemango K Dutta, Joint General Manager (Corporate Affairs), IIM Shillong. The gathering was addressed by Shireesh Khare, Head – Projects, Tata Starbucks and Vibhor Mishra, Regional Director – Operations (South & East), Tata Starbucks, who led a conversation on the coffee and beverage industry.
A corporate quiz on Starbucks and the coffee industry added an energetic participative dimension, followed by a presentation on the brand philosophy and its market expansion strategy including its entry into Meghalaya as part of its Northeast growth story.
The institute said the session set the tone for a robust dialogue series, with plans to bring leading industry teams for closer interaction, mentorship and live project opportunities for students.
