Shillong, Sep 16: A collaborative training programme on ‘Pig Entrepreneurship Development’ was held at ICAR-Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Ri-Bhoi, jointly organised by KVK Ri-Bhoi, ATMA and ICAR-Indian Veterinary Research Institute (IVRI).
A total of 43 pig farmers and rural entrepreneurs took part. The training covered breed selection, housing, feeding and nutrition, health management, disease prevention, biosecurity and profitable enterprise management.
Experts stressed adoption of scientific technologies to boost productivity, cut costs and improve profitability, while participants discussed field-level challenges.
Pig feed and mineral mixture were distributed as follow-up support to encourage improved feeding practices.
The programme underscored institutional convergence for technology dissemination and sustainable piggery entrepreneurship in the district, a press release said.
