Shillong, Sep 15: The Meghalaya High Court has set December 15, 2026 as the deadline for completion of rectification works on the 102.255-km Jowai-Ratacherra stretch of NH-6.
Hearing a PIL on Tuesday, a bench of Chief Justice Revati Mohite Dere and Justice Wanlura Diengdoh was told by NHIDCL that “the defect liability period is three years” and contractors will complete repairs by Dec 15.”
The bitumen work cannot be carried out presently because of rains and will start only in the first week of October,” NHIDCL submitted, assuring “continuous monitoring.”
NHAI also filed an affidavit detailing action against “erring contractors/engineers” before the July 21 tripartite pact with Dhar Construction Company, Purbanchal Buildtech Pvt Ltd and two specialist contractors.
The court asked Amicus S. Panthi to conduct a spot inspection before the next hearing on November 16, directing NHIDCL to facilitate the visit.
