Shillong, Sep 13: The Dorbar Shnong of Mawlong Nongtluh, one of the oldest villages under Raid Nongtluh in Ri-Bhoi, organised a special programme-cum-public meeting yesterday to promote sports and youth development.
The meeting was attended by elders, parents and youths, including office bearers of the Sports Youth Affairs Development Council (SYADC), Seng Kynthei Shnong, Seng Samla Shnong and local sports club.
The main objective was to discuss ways to promote sports activities and uplift the youth of the village and surrounding areas. Through the SYADC, the Dorbar Shnong has set a target to give special focus on sports.
Rangbah Shnong and chairman of the SYADC, Arbingstone Shylla, explained the aims and objectives and efforts of the new wing.
Other speakers included DA Syiem, secretary of the Seng Kynthei Shnong Estre Manih, EJ Rynshon and Dorbar Shnong secretary Shanbor Syiem.
On the occasion, Hid Foundation Shillong extended support by donating sports items and financial assistance to the SYADC through its executive coordinator Soniland Malai.
The foundation said the contribution is part of its effort to promote sports activities and encourage youth in rural areas.
