Nongpoh, Sep 8: A house at Umran Dairy was completely gutted in a fire that broke out in the early hours of Tuesday. No injuries were reported.
The fire broke out around 4 am while a 21-year-old man was asleep inside. He woke up after seeing the flames and escaped by jumping through a window. The house belongs to Bijenti Basaiawmoit.
Neighbours rushed to help but could not contain the blaze as flames intensified. Police and Fire and Emergency Services later brought the fire under control.
The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained. Electrical fault is suspected. Investigation is underway.
