Shillong, Sep 2: In a bid to regulate and bring accountability to raffle and lucky draw activities, the Deputy Commissioner of South West Garo Hills has made prior permission mandatory for all organisers.
Any organisation, society or other entity planning to conduct raffles or lucky draws in the district will have to obtain a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Director, Meghalaya State Lottery, Shillong, the DC office in Ampati said on Wednesday.
The advisory has been issued in pursuance of the Lotteries (Regulation) Act, 1998 and the Lotteries (Regulation) Rules, 2010. The Meghalaya State Lottery has prescribed an application form for private organisations seeking NOC.
The application form can be collected from the Office of the Deputy Commissioner, South West Garo Hills, Ampati. The duly filled form along with required documents has to be submitted to the Office of the Director, Meghalaya State Lottery, Nokrek Building, Room No. 402, Lower Lachaumiere, Shillong – 793001 for scrutiny and processing.
Organisations have been advised to secure the NOC before conducting any event to ensure compliance with applicable laws and avoid legal action.
