Nongpoh, Aug 22: Eighty-five students from different educational institutions across Ri-Bhoi who successfully completed their undergraduate examinations and emerged as top performers were felicitated by Mahatma Gandhi University (MGU) during a special ceremony held in Nongpoh on Tuesday.
The felicitation programme was attended by Himalaya Shangpliang, adviser to Meghalaya’s Education Department, as the chief guest. Nongpoh MLA Mayralborn Syiem, Ri-Bhoi Deputy Commissioner Abhishek Saini, District School Education Officer R Shadap, MGU Vice-Chancellor Sagar O Manjare, principals of various colleges, students and other dignitaries were also present.
The initiative was organised by MGU with the objective of encouraging and motivating students for their academic achievements while also providing them with guidance on pursuing higher education and exploring further academic opportunities. A special guidance programme for students was also organised following the felicitation ceremony.
Speaking on the occasion, Shangpliang and Syiem said such recognition serves as an important encouragement for young students as they begin their journey towards achieving their aspirations and building successful careers.
The dignitaries also encouraged the awardees to remain disciplined, respectful and committed to their studies. They urged the students to continue working hard and make the most of the education and guidance provided by their parents and teachers, while striving to lead meaningful and successful lives.
