Shillong, Aug 14: The Public Health Engineering (PHE) Department conducted a training programme on office procedures and work ethics at the office of the Chief Engineer in Lower Lachumiere here, yesterday.
Chaired by Chief Engineer R.S. Nongbri and CAO Coordinator A.M. Lartang, the training focused on strengthening staff knowledge of government office procedures and promoting efficiency, professionalism and accountability in public service.
Sessions covered office and file management, noting and drafting, official correspondence, record management, conduct rules, discipline, punctuality, office etiquette and work ethics.
Officials noted that with most staff yet to be fully familiar with the evolving digital ecosystem and new systems of working, such training plays a crucial role in building capacity.
Nongbri said, “Following proper procedures, maintaining discipline and upholding professional ethics are essential for efficient public service. Such training helps strengthen our capacity to serve the people more effectively.”
The department said similar training will be conducted continuously for officers and staff across Circles, Divisions and Sub-Divisions in the State.
