Shillong, Jul 31: The University of Science and Technology Meghalaya (USTM) has been selected as the only private university from Northeast India for a live interaction with Prime Minister Narendra Modi under the nationwide “Gen-Z Against Addiction – Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat Sankalp Abhiyan”.
The programme, an initiative of the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports in collaboration with MY Bharat, will be held on August 2 at USTM’s central auditorium.
Students will get the opportunity to directly engage with the Prime Minister as part of the national campaign promoting a drug-free lifestyle.
The university said its selection reflects its commitment to youth empowerment, value-based education and social responsibility, and highlights the university’s growing national recognition.
As part of the Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat campaign, USTM’s NSS Unit has been conducting awareness rallies, anti-drug pledges, street plays, poster campaigns and community outreach. A district-level youth competition was also organised to mark the campaign and encourage student participation, a press release said.
