Nongpoh, Jul 29: The 67 Battalion of CRPF, Shillong has started a free computer training programme for underprivileged students at at the Regional Institute of Advanced Studies (RIAS) in Nongpoh, under its Civic Action Programme.
Inaugurated on July 27 by Commandant Jai Singh, the course aims to promote digital literacy and strengthen ties between the force and local communities.
Fourteen students have enrolled for training in Fundamentals of Computers and Microsoft Office. The programme will run till September 30, 2026.
Addressing the gathering, Singh said computer skills are vital in today’s digital age and reaffirmed CRPF’s commitment to community welfare.
Officials of RIAS, CRPF personnel, and faculty members attended the inaugural.
The initiative is part of CRPF’s ongoing efforts to support youth skill development and build goodwill in areas where it is deployed.
