NEHU’s Administrative Delays Paralyzing Students’ Future

      Editor,

Our 6th-semester theory exams ended in May. It is now late July. For final-year students across the country, this is a season of new beginnings, orientations, new cities, and stepping into postgraduate life. But for the final-year undergraduate students of North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU), it is a period of agonizing, endless limbo.

As the inaugural batch under the National Education Policy (NEP), we knew we were entering uncharted territory. What we did not expect was to be treated as trial data in a poorly managed academic experiment. From day one, we navigated shifting curricula and confused guidelines while the administration tried to build the plane mid-flight. We pushed through, believing our resilience would carry us across the finish line.

Instead, we have hit a brick wall. The university’s silence regarding our 6th-semester results is not a minor hiccup; it is a full-blown crisis. Students who cleared competitive national entrance exams and secured seats in prestigious institutions are watching those offers get canceled simply because they cannot produce a provisional transcript or degree.

The student community fulfilled every obligation, we paid our fees, adapted to a chaotic new system, and sat for our exams months ago. Why are we paying the ultimate price for the university’s structural failures?

Behind every delayed marksheet is a student’s ambition, a family’s sacrifice, and years of hard work. The NEHU administration must break its silence, take accountability, and expedite the release of our results before any more futures are derailed.

      A Concerned Student
