Shillong, Jul 21: A three-month integrated health campaign (IHC) was launched in East Jaintia Hills today to expand access to health services and create awareness in rural communities.
Sutnga-Saipung MLA Santa Mary Shylla inaugurated the campaign in Dkhiah East village. The campaign is being organised by the Meghalaya AIDS Control Society (MACS) in collaboration with the office of the Deputy Commissioner and the office of the District Medical and Health Officer.
Speaking at the launch, Shylla stressed the importance of preventive healthcare and community participation in making the campaign successful. She urged residents to avail of the services being offered during the three-month period.
Officials said the IHC will focus on HIV/AIDS awareness, testing and counseling, maternal and child health, nutrition, tuberculosis screening and other essential health services. The campaign will cover villages across the district through health camps, outreach activities and door-to-door mobilisation in coordination with health workers, ASHAs and community leaders.
