Shillong, Jul 3:The state Public Works Department (PWD) has called upon government departments, community representatives, civil society organisations, road users and the general public to review and provide feedback on the draft environmental and social safeguard documents prepared for the proposed Meghalaya Logistics and Connectivity Improvement Project (MLCIP).
The MLCIP is a $300 million initiative aimed at upgrading around 600km of climate-resilient roads, bridges and rural logistics infrastructure.
In a public notice today, the department stated that the documents open for consultation include the Environmental and Social Management Framework (ESMF), Indigenous Peoples Planning Framework (IPPF), Resettlement Policy Framework (RPF) and the Stakeholder Engagement Plan (SEP).
The draft documents have been made available for public review on the official website of the Meghalaya PWD and hard copies can also be accessed at the offices of the PWD and the Project Director of the Meghalaya Infrastructure Development Finance Corporation (MIDFC).
The department has invited stakeholders and members of the public to submit their comments, suggestions and observations by July 23, 2026.
