Shillong, Jun 28: Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma congratulated singer-composer Jasleen Royal, a frequent performer at Shillong’s Cherry Blossom Festival, for her song “Inaam” making it to India’s Top 15.
Calling it a “remarkable milestone for women in music,” Sangma said in an X post that Royal is the only solo female composer-singer to have three songs in India’s Top 150. He linked the song’s success to Meghalaya’s rising profile, noting that “Inaam” was launched at the Cherry Blossom Festival and its music video highlights both the festival’s grandeur and the state’s landscapes.
Royal, a regular at the festival with performances in 2024 and 2025, has also gained wider visibility after opening for Coldplay on the band’s “Music of the Spheres World Tour” concerts in India.
Sangma said the track’s chart performance reflects Meghalaya’s growing stature as a destination for music and tourism.
