Mawkyrwat, Jun 4: An unidentified dead body of a man was found floating in the Kynshi riverbank, police said today.
The unresponsive man was discovered by locals beneath the Ranikor Borbasing Bridge in Rilang (Ranikor) under South West Khasi Hills district, who informed the police at 2:15 pm.
The deceased was subsequently retrieved from the water and moved to the riverbank for a thorough inquest in the presence of the Rangbah Shnong of Rilang and other witnesses.
According to police, initial observations indicated that the man was most likely non-tribal and had suffered a fractured skull, however no other visible injuries were noted on the body.
The dead body has been kept in the Ranikor CHC morgue for an autopsy. An unnatural death case has been taken up by the Ranikor PS and investigation is on.
