Shillong, May 14: The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has granted approval to the College of Architecture and Urban Planning (CAUP) in Tura, which will now be able to offer courses from the 2026-27 academic session.
This was informed by Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma today.
The CAUP Tura is a constituent college of Captain Williamson Sangma State University (CWSSU).
The CM informed that the college will commence degree courses in Urban Planning with an intake capacity of 30 seats.
Sangma said that this is an important milestone for Meghalaya as it will create opportunities for youth of the state to pursue professional education in urban and regional planning within Meghalaya. He also said that the institute will also build a skilled workforce to support sustainable and planned development across the state.
