Shillong, May 6: In a push to nurture young talent in South West Khasi Hills, four cricket centres were inaugurated at Hilland, Pyndenumsaw, Ngunraw, and Marshilong to provide coaching to children from an early age.
The new training centres are aimed at enhancing cricketing skills at the grassroots level and creating a pipeline of players from the district.
The centres were inaugurated by Meghalaya Cricket Association (MCA) President James Sangma during his visit to the district. He was accompanied by Mawkyrwat MLA Renikton Lyngdoh Tongkhar and members of the South West Khasi Hills District Cricket Association.
Sangma also inspected the District Association’s cricket ground at Hilland village, which spans about 6 acres. He assured that the MCA would extend necessary support for the development of the ground.
As part of efforts to strengthen cricket activities in the district, Sangma further assured that an indoor stadium would be constructed at the Association’s ground in Mawten.
