Nongpoh, May 5: Teachers and students of a school in Ri Bhoi, who united to rescue an abandoned newborn baby, were today honoured by the office of the Superintendent of Police.
The infant was rescued from being buried alive in Mawhati on April 27.
The recognition was given in appreciation for their quick thinking and decisive actions that ensured the safety of the infant. Officials commended their commitment to the well-being of the newborn and said the rescue is a testament to the societal values of compassion and responsibility, fostering a sense of unity within the community.
The police authorities emphasised the importance of collective vigilance and humanitarian spirit, stating that these qualities reflect the community’s strength.
