Shillong, May 2: Meghalaya has recently signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the CK-12 Foundation, signifying a crucial step towards enhancing digital and interactive learning for school students across the state.
This collaboration is part of the Meghalaya Programme for Adolescent Wellbeing, Empowerment, and Resilience (MPOWER) aimed at resolving the challenges adolescents face in their education.
The primary objective of this agreement is to strengthen conceptual understanding, build confidence, and increase interest among students in essential subjects such as science and mathematics. By integrating high-quality digital resources and personalized learning tools, the initiative promises to make learning more engaging and accessible, especially for students in government and government-aided schools.
The CK-12 Foundation’s open educational platform will support diverse learning environments, including classroom learning, self-paced study, and teacher-led instruction. This platform aims to simplify challenging concepts through interactive exercises and digital content.
Vijay Mantri, co-project director of MPOWER, said the partnership is crucial for ensuring that students are not just enrolled in schools but are also meaningfully engaged in their learning process. He said the initiative aligns with the government’s new policy to make science and mathematics compulsory.
