Shillong, Apr 26: Inhabitants of Huroi and Lahalein in East Jaintia Hills yesterday held a public meeting at Huroi expressing rage on the approval of Johny Suchen as the Rangbah Shnong of Umpyrshin.
The inhabitants of Huroi and Lahalein demanded to do away with the sanad to Suchen as the Waheh Shnong, threatening the Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council (JHADC) that if it fails, they will oppose the construction of the so-called high speed corridor.
Speakers expressed that Umpyrshin is just a hamlet of Huroi village but Johny Suchen got a sanad from the JHADC.
The speakers also referred to the RTI by E Nongrum, where they asked the JHADC if it got the consent of Huroi and Lahalein. On the matter, the response was negative.
Also, the response was negative in the RTI when the JHADC was asked if it got the acknowledgement letter of the Elaka if Umpyrshin was considered a separate village.
The RTI reports have further enraged the JHADC approval to Suchen as the Waheh Shnong of Umpyrshin.
