Editor,
Recent discussions surrounding student experiences in the said institution, Umshyrpi College have brought multiple perspectives into the public domain. While differing opinions are natural, it is essential that the focus remains on the lived academic realities faced by students on a day-to-day basis.
Across batches, there have been recurring instances where disciplinary measures appear inconsistent in their application. Situations involving attendance, warnings, and subsequent actions often lack clear communication, leaving students uncertain about expectations and consequences.
Equally concerning is the unpredictability in academic scheduling. Instances of examinations being announced with minimal notice create avoidable stress and directly impact preparation, particularly for students already managing academic and personal challenges.
While we respect the views expressed in recent responses, it is also worth noting that certain explanations presented therein reflect a level of procedural or administrative detail that may not ordinarily form part of a typical student’s experience. This observation is shared only to emphasize the importance of ensuring that the discussion remains grounded in common student realities.
It is important to clarify that raising such concerns is not an attempt to undermine the institution. On the contrary, it reflects a desire to see it function with greater clarity, fairness, and accountability—values that ultimately strengthen any academic environment.
Students who speak cautiously or choose anonymity do so not out of disregard for responsibility, but out of an understanding of the environment they navigate. Their voices should be heard in the spirit of improvement, not dismissed based on form.
Constructive dialogue can only emerge when attention is given to the issues themselves, rather than the identities or perceived motivations of those who raise them.
