Shillong, Apr 18: The Mainpuri Elders Consortium, Shillong held a silent sit-in protest at the Don Bosco Square here, to express their outrage over the killing of two children at Tronglaobi village in Manipur on April 7, 2026.
Protesters sat in silence, holding placards that communicated their solidarity with the victims and their bereaved families.
Community, including residents, community leaders, and members of civil society expressed deep concern regarding the alarming trend of violence in Manipur.
The event remained peaceful throughout, with TS Leiba, president of the Manipuri Elders Consortium calling for justice and effective measures to ensure the safety and security of civilians in Manipur.
The five-year old and six-month old siblings were killed and their mother was seriously injured when suspected militants hurled a bomb at their house.
