Shillong, Apr 15: A truck loaded with scraps caught fire at 8 Mer near Ganesh Mandir, close to the Assam-Meghalaya border in Ri Bhoi district.
The truck with registration number AS-01 KC-9466 was heading from Guwahati to Shillong when the incident happened at around 10 pm yesterday.
The fire reportedly broke out from the front portion of the truck and spread rapidly. Both the driver and the helper managed to escape from the spot in time, and no casualties or injuries were reported.
Following the incident, fire and emergency services from Assam rushed to the scene and brought the blaze under control.
Meanwhile, an investigation is currently underway to ascertain the exact cause of the fire.
