Shillong, Apr 13: Education Minister Lahkmen Rymbui visited Jalaphet Bri Sutnga Government Lower Primary School and announced financial assistance of Rs 40 lakh for additional classrooms due to space constraints.
Accompanied by Sutnga-Saipung MLA Santa Mary Shylla and officials, Rymbui interacted with teachers, students and school management committee members.
The school has around 330 students, a figure that Rymbui was impressed by. He commended teachers for maintaining high enrolment and stressed rationalisation of teacher deployment.
The minister also announced Rs 11 lakh for a store-cum-kitchen room at Jalaphet Upper Primary School and instructed officials to process appointments of two additional teachers.
Shylla thanked teachers and announced Rs 20 lakh under the District Mineral Foundation Scheme for additional classrooms.
