Shillong, Apr 11: Dr. Yugal Kishore Mohanta, an assistant professor at the University of Science and Technology Meghalaya (USTM) has contributed to a major global research publication in the prestigious The Lancet Infectious Diseases (Impact Factor: 31).
Dr. Mohanta was a key contributor to the groundbreaking paper titled “Global Burden of Lower Respiratory Infections and Aetiologies, 1990–2023: A Systematic Analysis for the Global Burden of Disease Study 2023.” This study represents one of the most comprehensive analyses to date, exploring the numerous factors contributing to lower respiratory infections over a span of more than three decades, particularly noting their significant role as a leading cause of mortality worldwide.
This landmark study was conducted by a consortium of international scientists under the auspices of the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation at the University of Washington. Its findings are expected to inform public health strategies and interventions globally, underscoring the invaluable insights that researchers like Dr. Yugal Kishore Mohanta bring to the field. The collaboration supported by the Bill also highlights the importance of collective efforts in tackling global health challenges.
