Shillong, Apr 10: Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma inaugurated the indoor sports hall, unveiled the renovated amenities of St. Mary’s College and equipment procured under grants from Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA 2.0).
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister acknowledged that education provided by different denominations and missions inspire the government.
He said the government is working hand-in-hand with these institutes to serve the people of the state and informed that the government supports such institutions amounting to about Rs 1200 crore annually. “I am happy to see that the investments by the government through these organizations are yielding great results,” he said.
RUSA 2.0 (Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan) is a Centrally Sponsored Scheme (2017-2020) by India’s Ministry of Education aimed at enhancing access, equity, and quality in state higher education. It funds infrastructure, reforms, and capacity building, particularly focusing on underserved, aspirational districts and upgrading colleges into universities with objectives to improve quality, enhance access, and ensure equity.
