Shillong, Mar 4: The 10th death anniversary of former Chief Minister and Lok Sabha Speaker, Purno Agitok Sangma was observed at the stadium named after him in Tura today.
Organised by the P. A. Sangma Foundation, rich tributes was paid in remembrance of the leader’s legacy.

The event also saw the inauguration of the P. A. Sangma museum displaying his life and achievements and has replicas made of his early childhood home and schooling. The life-size statue and favourite chair of the late leader was also put on display for the people.
Speaking on the sidelines of the programme, the Speaker said that Late Sangma was the tallest leader of the Garo Community. He said that the museum reflects the life story of the leader till he became the Speaker of the Lok Sabha.
He said that Late Sangma even contested the post of President to prove a point that a tribal can hold the highest position in the country.
In Shillong, the National People’s Party (NPP) commemorated the late leader’s death anniversary at the party office.
NPP State President Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong, senior office bearers of the NPP were present.
