Shillong, Feb 25: Shillong writer and creative entrepreneur Babatdor Dkhar has been named India UK Achiever 2026 in the category Arts, Culture, Entertainment & Sports.
The honour was formally announced at a parliamentary reception held at the House of Lords, UK Parliament, London yesterday.
The India UK Achievers is a prestigious initiative by NISAU (National Indian Students And Alumni Union UK) and the UK government in celebrating Indians who have pursued higher education in the United Kingdom and gone on to make significant contributions in their professional fields and communities. The programme highlights individuals whose work strengthens intellectual, cultural, and institutional ties between India and the United Kingdom.
The Achievers Class of 2026, the fourth cohort of the programme, was formally unveiled during the reception in the Cholmondeley Room and Terrace at the House of Lords.
Established in 2022 on the occasion of India’s 75th year of Independence, the India UK Achievers Honours recognise globally educated Indians whose work contributes to diplomacy, innovation, education, enterprise, and cultural exchange across borders.
Babatdor Dkhar was selected following a competitive international nomination process and joins a distinguished cohort of professionals and leaders across sectors.
An alumnus of the University of Oxford and a Charles Wallace Creative Writing Fellow at the University of Kent, Dkhar is the founder and creative director of the creative and literary platform Half and One, which publishes writers and artists from around the world while developing original intellectual properties including comic books, magazines, puzzles, board games, and animation projects.
Dkhar is among a new generation of globally educated Indian professionals whose work reflects the growing intellectual and cultural partnership between India and the United Kingdom.
