Shillong, Feb 15: Cabinet minister and Amlarem MLA Lahkmen Rymbui yesterday handed over vehicles for students and waste management in his constituency.
Visiting Kyrweng village, Rymbui handed over a vehicle meant to transport them to Muktapur to give them access to education.
Addressing the gathering, Rymbui appealed to the village dorbar to assume full responsibility for the vehicle’s care and maintenance to ensure its long-term benefit for students.
On the occasion, the minister also distributed work orders amounting to Rs 5 lakh for the construction of additional classrooms at Kyrweng Lower Primary School. The project is expected to enhance the learning environment and accommodate the growing number of students. Additionally, Rs 1 lakh was sanctioned for the construction of a school toilet.
Extending developmental support to Sankhat village, Rymbui handed over work orders worth Rs 5 lakh for internal road construction. A further Rs 2 lakh was sanctioned for the construction of a boundary wall at RC Sankhat.
Later the same day, a Maruti Super Carry vehicle was handed over to Khonglah village to support waste management and strengthen the cleanliness initiatives of the Dorbar Shnong.
