Another two suspects in the murder of activist Dilseng Sangma were arrested by police on Thursday night, taking the total number apprehended to six.
Sangma was killed while his pressure group, ACHIK, was inspecting allegedly illegal stone quarrying units in the Rajabala area of West Garo Hills last week.
The two persons have been identified as Bahadur Shiekh (21) and Mozidur Hussain (22).
Dilseng and other members of ACHIK came under attack on January 9 by those who are allegedly supporting illegal quarrying.
Four others who were arrested have been identified as Rafiqul Islam (47), Anarul Islam (30), Atowar Islam (40) and Ariful Islam (30).
Meanwhile, after the murder of Dilseng, the Forest Department and West Garo Hills district administration seized machinery and equipment used for supposedly illegal extraction of stones in Rajabala and the surrounding areas.
