Shillong, Jan 2: Justice Revati Mohite Dere, a judge of the Bombay High Court has been appointed Chief Justice of the Meghalaya High Court.
Justice Dere will replace Justice Soumen Sen, who has been transferred to the Kerala High Court following the retirement of incumbent Chief Justice Nitin Madhukar Jamdar, who is set to demit office on January 9.
The Centre notified the transfer of Justice Soumen Sen on Thursday after a recommendation made by the Supreme Court Collegium at its meeting held on December 18, 2025.
Justice Dere is presently the second senior-most judge of the Bombay High Court. The announcement was confirmed by Minister of Law and Justice (Independent Charge) Arjun Ram Meghwal on X.
Born in Pune, Justice Dere, obtained her law degree from Symbiosis Law College, Pune. She practised extensively before the Bombay HC and also served as a prosecutor for the Government of Maharashtra.
She was elevated as an additional judge of the Bombay HC in 2013 and was made a permanent judge in 2016.
