Shillong, Dec 29: The inauguration of the ‘Mawdun Model Village for Environmental Stewardship’ was held on December 27 through an initiative adopted and conceptualised, supervised and supported by Green-Tech Foundation (GTF)
The initiative marks a significant milestone for the residents of Mawdun village and reflects a well-planned, phase-wise implementation strategy aimed at promoting community-led environmental stewardship and sustainable living practices, a press release said today. The project is envisaged to serve as a replicable model for other villages in East Khasi Hills, the state as a whole and the country at large.
The initiative further aims to position Mawdun village as one of the cleanest, greenest, and environmentally sustainable villages in the nation, thereby contributing meaningfully to long-term ecological conservation and responsible community development.
The organisers place on record their appreciation and gratitude to all stakeholders, partners, community leaders, and villagers who have extended their cooperation and support towards the successful inauguration and future implementation of the project.
