Shillong, Dec 23: The valedictory programme of Home Guard Volunteers was conducted today at Laitlyting Lyngkyrdem.
The programme marked the successful completion of training of 83 Home Guard volunteers and highlighted their readiness to serve society in times of need.
Prestone Tynsong, Deputy Chief Minister, was the chief guest. The programme commenced with a Salami Parade, followed by the arrival of the Joint Director, Civil Defence & Home Guards, B Mukhim, and the chief guest. Tynsong then took the salute and reviewed the parade.
In his keynote address, the Deputy CM congratulated the newly inducted Home Guard volunteers and appreciated their commitment to serving the people. He said that the event is a blessing to the area. He lauded the Directorate of Civil Defence and Home Guards for its efforts and providing the volunteers the best training. He appreciated the village leaders, villagers and parents of Home Guard volunteers for their efforts and collaboration in organising the training. He added that they should carry the honour and glory of Pynursla constituency and Raid Langkyrdem and spread the fragrance to other places of the state. He urged the volunteers to let the certificate they received from the training be the beginning for their career into achieving new heights in life.
