Shillong, Dec 22: A devastating fire broke out today in Mawlai Nonglum, completely gutting a house that was let out on rent to two families.
According to sources, the fire broke out at around 11:45 am. A gas cylinder inside reportedly exploded after the fire started, worsening the situation.
The house was owned by Ibadalin Rangslang and was occupied by two families on rent—one headed by Kyntiewriti Sawkmie, comprising seven members, and the other by Buetilin Sawkmie, who lives with her child.
The exact cause of the fire is unknown. No casualties or injuries were reported in the incident.
However, both families have suffered immense financial loss as all their household items, essential documents, and personal belongings were completely destroyed in the fire.
