Shillong, Dec 13: The Meghalaya State School Chess Championship 2025 conducted by Meghalaya Chess Association in the U-11, U-13 and U-17 categories for boys and girls concluded at the Gymnasium cum Indoor Sports Hall in Polo on December 10.
All together 223 players from different affiliated districts of the state took part.
The tournament was conducted in FIDE Swiss Rules of 6 Rounds.
In the U-11 category Peacyworld B Marak of St. Mary’s HS School came first followed by Sanglanghame Pyrtuh of St. Edmund’s School, John Vianny Tympuin of St. Anthony’s HS School and Joseph Jared Paswet of Meghalaya Police Public School in the second, third and fourth place respectively.
In the U-13 Boys category, Sangnik Kandar of KV NEHU, Shillong won the first prize followed by Jeveswar B Marak of St. Anthony’s HS School in the second place, Satwik Kandar of KV NEHU and Damanbha Mawlong of St. Paul, Marbisu took the third and fourth prizes respectively.
Bashembha Tangsang of Cherished Buds School stood first in the girl’s category. The second place went to Sabetnaki Lyngdoh of Seng Khasi Secondary School, Mawphlang and Cheaha Nikgame G Momin of Woodland Secondary School, Daly and Evelyne Kurbah of Springtime Secondary School, Sadew won the third and fourth prize respectively.
The U-17 boy’s winner was Radharanjan Chakravarty of St. Anthony’s HS School. Mayukh Sah of Captain William School, Devraj Dutta of KV EAC Upper Shillong and Yochwa Gilbert Gashnga of St. Peter’s School took the second, third and fourth prizes respectively.
Amaziah Gapesa Ch Marak of Casarina Public School stood first in the U-17 girl’s category, followed by Rishta G Momin of St. Paul HS School, Marbisu in the second place and Katie Laetitia P Kurbah of Pine Mount School and Marlir Lapang of St. Peter’s Secondary School, Nongsder won the third and fourth prize respectively.
