Shillong, Nov 30: The Meghalaya government has issued standard operating procedures (SOPs) regulating the use of tinted glass, sirens, beacons and name plates on official vehicles.
These SOPs were approved in a cabinet meeting held on November 26. The SOPs, released by Commissioner and Secretary in the Home Department, Cyril VD Diengdoh, were officially dated November 28 but shared with the media today.
While formal SOPs are welcome, they are unlikely to change much on the ground, as VIPs will be allowed to make use of tinted glass, etc, subject to certain conditions or permission from a specific committee tasked with this responsibility.
