Shillong, Nov 15: An outreach programme for military pensioners was held here yesterday to familiarise them with SPARSH, a flagship initiative of the Union Ministry of Defence.
SPARSH is an integrated online system designed to ensure transparent, efficient and paperless sanction and disbursement of defence pensions. The project aims to transform defence pension management by bringing all pensioners onto a single digital platform. The system enables defence pensioners to access services such as pension sanction, disbursement, verification and grievance resolution.
The outreach was organised by the Controller of Defence Accounts (Army) Guwahati in coordination with Gautam Doley, DCDA, Area Accounts Office, Shillong.
Around 200 pensioners and their family members from in and around the Shillong area attended the outreach programme, along with staff from nearby Army and MES units. Dedicated counters manned by officials from the office of the CDA Guwahati and the Area Accounts Office, Shillong, were set up for Aadhaar updation, Digital Life Certificate identification, SPARSH information, and grievance redressal, ensuring a smooth and seamless experience for all attendees.
A separate kiosk for medical health check-ups was installed by Military Hospital Shillong at the venue. An ICICI Bank counter was also positioned to address banking-related queries and provide essential services for a seamless financial experience.
