Shillong, Sep 7: The general meeting of Meghalaya Editors’ and Publishers’ Association (MEPA) was held here yesterday where new office bearers were elected for the next three-year term.
R Monarch Shabong was reelected as MEPA president while John W Thabah was reelected as general secretary.
The vice-presidents are Kamal K Jhunjhunwala, Rajib Choudhuri, Markus M Thaïang, Raphael Warjri and Russel Nongrum.
The newly-elected joint secretaries are John Lyngdoh and Purbasha Bhattacharjee.
Kyrmen Uriah was reelected as organising secretary and Deimebanda Blah was reelected as treasurer.
Seven Executive Members were also elected at the meeting. They included Justice Marweiñ, EM Jose, Apporlet Shabong, Starfing Pdahkasiej, Deimaïa Siangshai, Sunday Sumer, Dominic Savio Diengdoh and Banker Lapang.
The meeting also discussed many issues related to media houses and journalists of the state.
An open session was held after the meeting for all journalists of the state. Also present were Information and Public Relations Minister Ampareen Lyngdoh, Commissioner and Secretary Vijay Kumar Mantri and Director of Information and Public Relations Batlang Sohliya.
