Shillong, Sep 1: The State BJP workers staged a protest in front of the Congress Bhawan in Shillong alleging that he used abusive language and made indecent comments against Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s mother during the ‘Voter Adhikar Yatra’ in Bihar last week.
A handful of BJP members led by Arena Hynniewta, BJP State Mahila President, who had gathered outside the gate of Sadar Police Station, marched to the Congress Bhawan at Thana road and shouted slogans against Gandhi and the Congress party.
In return, the Congress members countered the slogans by shouting against the BJP.
Later the BJP workers filed an FIR against Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra for alleged objectionable remarks against Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
The BJP workers said the MP has also insulted the Schedule Caste Matua Community and hurt the religious sentiments of Sanatanis.
“These remarks are highly offensive, abusive and have caused severe mental agony, insult and public humiliation,” Hynniewta stated in her FIR.
Speaking to reporters, the state Mahila President said that every political party stands on their own principles but the Congress’s recent actions have personally hurt the members of the BJP.
“Rahul Gandhi, leader of the Congress should respect the Prime Minister of the country but the words that he used are shameful,” she said.
Hynniewta said that the state unit of the BJP condemns the actions of the Congress and demanded that Gandhi should seek apology from the members of the saffron party.
