Shillong, Aug 20: East Khasi Hills will be under an orange weather alert on Thursday as heavy rain is expected over the district.
All 11 other districts in the state will be under a lower yellow alert, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) said. EKH will continue to remain under an orange alert on Friday and will be joined by South West Khasi Hills, West Jaintia Hills and East Jaintia Hills. Weather forecasts are fluid, however, and the IMD may change its advice when it issues a new update tomorrow.
In the 24 hours to 8:30am today, the Mawsynram and Shella areas received the most rainfall, of between 40mm and 70mm.
