Shillong, Aug 19: The All Primary School Teachers’ Association (APSTA) will organise a rally on August 22 to highlight issues important to primary school teachers in the state.
At issue is APSTA’s opposition to the Meghalaya Education Grant (MEG) Continuity for Deficit Teachers, namely the provision that posts held by current deficit teachers will not be affected but after retirement the post will be transferred. MEG aims to unify teachers in a single system, thereby phasing out the deficit system.
The rally will commence at 10am from Jail Road Puja Mandap and proceed via Police Bazar to the Deputy Commissioner’s office, Ward’s Lake, Polo Bazar and finally Golf Links Community Hall.
