Shillong, Aug 14: The court of MK Lyngdoh, Special Judge (POCSO) East Khasi Hills sentenced a man to 20 years rigorous imprisonment for raping a minor.
The court in its verdict on August 11, also imposed a fine of Rs 30,000 on Forget Wahlang, who was found guilty of the crime committed in 2015.
In default of fine the convicted felon will have to undergo an additional four-month imprisonment for the offence punishable under section 6 POCSO Act.
The convict was also sentenced to two years in jail with fine of Rs. 5,000 for an offence under section 506 IPC Act and in default he has to undergo another two months in prison.
All the sentences shall run concurrently, the court said.
The case registered at Laban Police Station was investigated by Inspector B. Syiem, presently posted in the Criminal Investigation Department, Meghalaya.
