Shillong, Aug 8: The Governor has appointed the members of a Committee on the Change of Land Use in Meghalaya, to be led by the Director of Urban Affairs.
Five members have also been appointed, comprising the Joint Director (Planning) of Urban Affairs and representatives of the Forest and Environment Department, Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) of East Khasi Hills (not below the rank of Additional DC), Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (not below the rank of Deputy Secretary) and Meghalaya State Pollution Control Board or Public Works Department (not below the rank of Executive Engineer).
The committee’s Member Secretary will be the District Urban Planner.
This committee will assess the feasibility of each proposal and shall meet regularly for timely examination and decision making of applications received, a notification dated yesterday stated.
