Sixty-one youth have been selected to undergo 15-day skill training on food processing and soap making to be conducted by the Jaiñtia Hills Development Society (JHDS) in collaboration with the office of the West Jaiñtia Hills Deputy Commissioner to be funded under the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY).
An inaugural function for the training programme was organised today at the Samanlang Socio-Cultural Pastoral Centre in Mihmyntdu Lumbihsyntu which was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner, MA Challam.
Speaking at the function, Challam urged trainees to stay focussed, work hard and trust in God. He hoped that the training programme would benefit the youth and the district would one day no longer depend on buying soap and other products from outside.
Skill Development Officer, Lambormi Suchen informed that eight training centres are being set up for skill training programme under the Meghalaya State Skill Development Society (MSSDS).
Programme Coordinator JHDS Denis Kurkalang, Fr. Manbha Pakem, Director JHDS, Fr. Ferdinand Dkhar Diocesan Administrator Jowai Diocese and others were present at the programme.
